In Defense of a Nation...

Nearly 400 years ago, America’s forefathers set out on a journey which history now reveals to be the founding of the greatest nation on earth.  On November 11, 1620, before the pilgrims disembarked from their ship, they signed what was known as the Mayflower Compact.  The intent of their journey to the new world was clearly detailed in its content, which reads in part:  “In the name of God, Amen.  We whose names are underwritten…having undertaken for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith…a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia”.  From our birth and the Revolutionary War cries of “no king but King Jesus”, to Supreme Court rulings declaring us to be a “Christian nation”  (1892 Church of the Holy Trinity Vs. the United States), we find overwhelming evidence of our national purpose...to be one nation under one God...Jesus Christ.

...One Nation Under One God

Today as if blinded to our heritage, mainstream America searches for remedies that are purely political, hoping for one of the prominent political parties to cure our maladies.  Some even believe the institution of democracy alone is sufficient to produce life, liberty, and happiness in a society even as it drifts towards moral lawlessness.  Political swings often occur over the span of a few election cycles, with the balance of power shifting from one political party to the next...all driven by voter frustration as each party fails to deliver what the people know is needed in the form of change.  Money, power, and pleasure dominate our pursuits, while character, self-discipline, and honor are sacrificed on the altars of greed.  After all, if we’re rich we must be right, and our wealth erroneously validates our present course.  Or, to summarize former President Clinton’s campaign emphasis, “it’s the economy, stupid”.  Yet somehow in the middle of playing politics and so-called revolutions when one party prevails, few stop to realize that America faces pressing issues requiring divine wisdom.  But the band plays on, simply because we’re rich, increased with goods, and have need of nothing...not even God.  Suffice it to say our actions are akin to riding a dead horse, and wisdom dictates that at some point we should dismount from our current illogic.

The unalienable rights we possess as a people are given to us by God, and are always to be exercised within the framework of the rule of law...God’s law.  Deuteronomy 28:1-2 is clear to point out that a nation is blessed only through obedience to the God of the Bible, and trouble pursues a people when they turn from God to their own agendas (Deuteronomy 28:15).  The foundation for national prosperity lies in our obedience to our Creator, and is truly spiritual in nature.  Right government, freedom, and blessing are the result of obedience to God and adopting His national agenda and perspective as our very own.  God is just as interested in the affairs of state as He is in the affairs of His church, and we’d do well to handle the fresh concept that Jesus Christ is more than just a personal matter.  He truly is a national issue, and when the debates in government cease to be partisan in nature or pander to constituent bases prone to selfish agendas, but instead focus on how best to please the Lord, we’ll be on the right track.  Would to God this was the model of our government today.

A radical concept, you say?  Perhaps for some, but not for the student grounded in Scripture and pre-revisionist history.  Many would label such a “radical” message as out of step with culture, and to that I would agree.  In all honesty, it’s deliberately out of step with pop culture, and very much aligned with the mindset of bygone generations who knew how to capture God’s favor on their nation building efforts.  Today’s culture must work to remain aligned with God’s purposes for our nation, for God’s purposes do not change.  God’s Kingdom is not a democracy, and His plan doesn’t bend to the will of the mob.  So even the majority must choose right ground or it is still wrong regardless of its size and momentum.  Better to be right and stand alone than to be wrong and surrounded by supporters.

This ministry is devoted to the defense of the greatest nation on earth.  May we once again learn what it is to be “one nation under God”, and may the information presented here help develop the image of that in your mind.  You have come to the Kingdom for such a time as this.
